(Definition Of Sun)

The Sun is a major star of the Solar System. The size and brightness of the Sun are of moderate magnitude compared to other stars in the universe. The Sun, being closest to us, appears larger and brighter in size and brightness than other stars. The Sun is not a solid body but a ball of hot gases. It mainly contains hydrogen gas. The Sun accounts for more than 99% of the total matter of the entire Solar System. The Sun is also the main source of all the energy of the Solar System.

(Sun And Earth)

Our earth gets all its energy, visible and invisible light and heat from the sun. We are fortunate that we get the same amount of energy from the Sun, which is helpful for living on Earth and keeping it a living planet. The diameter of the Sun is about 100 times that of the Earth and its mass is about one million times that of the Earth.

(Parts Of The Sun)

Sun has mainly three parts–
1. Nucleus
2. Photosphere (Thermospheric Layer)
3. Chromosphere (Corona).

(Nucleus)

The central part of the Sun is called the nucleus. The temperature of the nucleus is about 20 million Kelvin (1.56 x 10 to the power 7 K). There the pressure is also very high, about 2 x 10 to the power of 16 pascals. Nuclear fusion takes place at such high temperature and pressure, due to which infinite energy is created in the Sun.

(Photosphere)

The thermal layer is about 800 km to 1600 km outside the Sun's nucleus. This layer is called the photosphere. The temperature of the photosphere is about 6000 K.

(Chromosphere)

There is a layer of hot gases outside the photoosphere, but their density is very low. This layer is called the varna circle or corona. The word corona of Latin language means crown in Hindi language. This layer emits a small amount of light. Therefore, this layer is normally invisible in comparison to the brightly lit light sphere located nearby. When a total solar eclipse occurs, the light coming from the photosystem stops from the moon, then the corona layer becomes brighter.
