महेश्वर (महिष्मति) भारत का एक महत्वपूर्ण दार्शनिक स्थल है। यह एक ऐतिहासिक नगर और प्रसिद्ध पर्यटन स्थल है। यह भारत के मध्य प्रदेश राज्य के खरगौन जिले में स्थित है। यह नगर नर्मदा नदी के तट पर बसा हुआ है।

Maheshwar (Mahishmati) is an important philosophical site of India. It is a historical city and a famous tourist destination. It is located in Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh state, India. This city is situated on the banks of river Narmada.

महेश्वर का इतिहास (History Of Maheshwar)

प्राचीन काल में महेश्वर शहर होल्कर शासकों के राज्य की राजधानी था। इस शहर पर देवी अहिल्याबाई होल्कर ने भी शासन किया था। अपने शासनकाल के दौरान उन्होंने महेश्वर में नर्मदा नदी के तट पर बहुत सुन्दर घाट बनवाये थे। इन घाटों का प्रतिबिम्ब नर्मदा नदी के जल में बहुत सुन्दर दिखाई देता है।

In ancient times, the city of Maheshwar was the capital of the kingdom of the Holkar rulers. This city was also ruled by Goddess Ahilyabai Holkar. During his reign, he built beautiful ghats on the banks of river Narmada at Maheshwar. The reflection of these ghats is very beautiful in the water of river Narmada.
